The goal for this landscape design was to make tight, urban space more expansive and efficient. The garden’s total area consists of just under 1,800 square feet, with an average width less than 9 feet. A circuit of narrow blue-stone pathways navigate you around the property; their slanted orientation provides planting areas of “pinch” and “expanse”. The inner-edge along the house is planted densely with vines and hedges, while the outer edge, borrowing adjacent garden views, was kept open and less dense thus giving the impression of openness.
